ABEBI STAFFORD TRIO

Abebi Stafford, a Twin Cities native, began playing piano at age nine. It wouldn’t be until he was seventeen years old when he would begin his jazz journey. Since that time, he has performed and recorded modern jazz, to fusion, to straight ahead jazz. He is an award-winning jazz pianist who plays with artistry, heart and rhythm. His group from his third album was named Atlanta’s “Future of Jazz” winner in 2004; and three of his song from his third album also placed as semi-finalist in the 2005 John Lennon songwriting competition. He has headlined the Twin Cities Jazz Festival and the Atlanta Jazz Festival. Having toured in the states and in Europe, he is now a veteran keyboardist in the Twin Cities who enjoys collaborating with other local musicians. Abebi has recently released his fourth studio album to begin 2025 with new personal compositions intended to elicit a multitude of emotions from the listener.
